The ocean, nature, and stories are at the heart of my work.

My name is Mohamed Shamy, a Maldives-born photographer and videographer with a deep connection to the ocean, nature, and visual storytelling. Born and raised among the islands, I grew up surrounded by the beauty of the sea and an environment that continues to shape the way I see the world.

Creativity has always been part of my life. I come from a family of artists and makers, where painting, drawing, and imagination were always encouraged. My love for art began with painting and illustration, but photography became the medium that felt most natural to me—a way to capture emotion, light, movement, and moments that words often cannot express.

I began my photography journey in 2018 as a self-taught creative, driven by curiosity and passion. Since then, I have completed a Diploma in Photography and worked with leading luxury resort brands in the Maldives, including The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, and Amilla Fushi.

My work spans underwater, lifestyle, portrait, wildlife, real estate, and food photography, as well as videography. While I enjoy exploring many styles, fine-art photography remains closest to my heart—where imagination, emotion, and the natural world come together in a single frame.

Through my work, I aim to create images that feel honest, timeless, and deeply connected to place.
